Massage Therapy.

Remedial Massage on the Sunshine Coast.

Massage Therapy that does more than relax. It reconnects.

At Whistling Kite Healing Therapies, massage is more than a routine technique. It’s a conversation between your body and a practitioner who knows how to listen. Abbey draws on multiple styles of therapeutic massage, blending them into each session as needed, always guided by how your body presents in the moment

Remedial Massage

This focused style of massage is used to address musculoskeletal issues, chronic tension, injury recovery, or postural imbalance. Pressure is firm but respectful, targeting the root of discomfort , and not just the symptom. Remedial massage can help restore function, increase circulation, and support deep tissue repair.

Deep Tissue Massage

For clients who hold tension in deeper layers of their body, deep tissue massage is applied slowly and mindfully to support release without overwhelm. Abbey combines strength with sensitivity, ensuring the nervous system stays calm even during deeper work.

Reflexology

While often thought of separately from massage, reflexology is a focused treatment for the feet, using pressure points that correspond to systems throughout the body. Abbey may incorporate reflexology into your session to support grounding, energy flow, and internal balance. It’s especially helpful for stress relief, hormonal support, or digestive regulation.

Oncology Massage

Designed for clients undergoing or recovering from cancer treatment, this form of massage uses slow, gentle techniques that honour the body’s limits while offering much-needed relief. Abbey adapts every session based on your energy levels, medical history, and preferences, always with safety, compassion, and trust at the core.

FAQs – Massage Therapy Sessions

No. All sessions are tailored to what your body needs in the moment. Abbey may incorporate remedial, deep tissue, reflexology, or other techniques depending on how you present that day.

That depends on what your body needs. Abbey uses both deep tissue and lighter techniques depending on your goals, pain tolerance, and how your nervous system is responding. Pressure is always adjusted to your comfort.

You don’t need to decide which type of massage you need, that’s Abbey’s role. Through observation, intuition, and clinical understanding, she’ll incorporate what’s most supportive for your body in that moment.
Remember, this isn’t a set menu. It’s a conversation and a process. One that includes your muscles, your nervous system, your history, and then your healing.

Reflexology is typically integrated into full sessions as part of Abbey’s intuitive approach, rather than booked as a standalone service. If you’re specifically seeking foot-based treatment, just mention this during your session.

Yes, Abbey has completed Oncology Massage Training (OMT). Each session is adapted to support your energy levels, immune system, and medical history. Be sure to share any current treatment details in your intake form or with Abbey directly.

All sessions, whether massage-based or fully integrative, are either 90 minutes or 2 hours, allowing time for deep work and gentle integration.

Your initial session will take approximately 15-20mins longer than a usual session. So, for your first booking, please select “initial consultation” and allow yourself plenty of time.

You’ll always be guided on what to wear based on the techniques used that day. For massage work, you may be asked to remove some layers (e.g., down to underwear), but you will always be draped respectfully for warmth and privacy.

Absolutely. Abbey will guide you gently, explain anything you’re unsure about, and adjust everything to your comfort level. No experience is needed,  just curiosity and willingness to receive.

Still not sure what you need? That’s okay. You don’t have to know… your body already does.
